Title: Instructional Technology Specialist

Employment Status: Regular/Full-Time (185 Day Teaching Contract plus 5 Extended Days) 

FLSA Status: Exempt

Description:To build capacity for innovative and effective use of instructional and administrative technology in support of the mission and goals of the Teays Valley Local Schools.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Build the capacity of instructional coaches, building leaders, and administrators to model the effective use of instructional technology.
• Develop and support the implementation of the K-12 Information Literacy curriculum, including Media, Digital, and AI literacy.
• Work with administrators, staff, and teachers to drive district-wide culture shifts.
• Work collaboratively with the Director of Teaching and Learning to develop plans to effectively integrate technology into instructional plans.
• Plan and facilitate building-wide or district-wide professional development initiatives related to instructional or administrative technology, including leading sessions at Viking Academy.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of assessment, curriculum, and instruction, including their relationship and how technology can support them.
• Regularly meet with teachers to plan, implement, and reflect on new instructional technologies and teaching strategies. Provide additional support by performing classroom observations, providing feedback, co-teaching, and modeling of pedagogy-first best practices. 
• Manage district instructional technology systems, including the district LMS.
• Provide instructional technology support for local, state, and national testing.
• Work collaboratively with the Technology Department to ensure the proper configuration of hardware and software related to instructional technology.
• Knowledge of how the district’s systems integrate in order to assist the Technology Department with troubleshooting.
• Understanding of the district’s LMS, identity platform, and interactive display software.
• Research and recommend technology solutions that meet the needs of students and staff.
• Assist in the preparation and/or presentation of reports or materials as requested by the district office, Board of Education, or the State Department of Education
• Participate in technology planning committees, as assigned.
• Maintain knowledge of trends in educational technology.
• Hold all confidential information in which he/she has knowledge of in the truest confidence, as required by law, and utilize confidential information obtained by he/she only for the benefit of the employee or student or in performance of his/her job responsibilities
• Proactively communicate with district/building administrators and engage in daily staff and colleague interactions to build strong, trusting relationships and ensure alignment with district goals.

 

Skills & Abilities: 

• Demonstrated knowledge and use of a rich array of instructional practices/strategies
• Proficient with Windows OS, Microsoft Word and Excel
• Skills in collecting, analyzing, and using data
• Experience using and supporting student information system software
• Demonstrated ability to model the effective use of instructional technology
• Knowledge of state professional development standards and instructional research
• Needs to be able to work unattended.
• Expectation to stay before and after school to lead professional development or work with teachers.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Valid Ohio teacher certification/licensure
• Minimum of four (4) years of successful teaching experience
• Satisfactory completion of BCI & FBI background check. 
• Such alternative(s) to the above qualifications as the superintendent and/or the board of education may find appropriate.
